To meet this need, the European automation expert, COPA-DATA has now equipped its HMI/SCADA tool with new functionality: a programmed driver simulation and project simulation which can simulate automation projects covering entire facilities without the need for any hardware to be connected. For the user this means equipment is put into operation more quickly and more safely, training can be more realistic and analysis of live situations is comprehensive. Understand complex facilities and control them safelyA real stress test for a project needs real conditions. The programmable zenon driver simulation creates a virtual test environment to achieve tests that are extremely close to reality. Once programmed in the straton Soft-PLC, it provides project simulations with realistic values, as though the hardware were already connected. At the same time, it enables the project simulation, which makes it possible to switch a live system to simulation mode at any time. Whilst the driver simulation also feeds in changeable process values without being connected to the control hardware, the project simulation provides a defined environment with actual equipment values, as in real operation. Project engineering, live operation, trainingThe zenon simulation supports automation in many ways. When engineering a project, processes are simulated realistically so that equipment can be tested extensively before being put into operation. In training, employees can learn using real projects with realistic actions and reactions. When problems arise in the facility, the user simply creates an image of the ongoing process in Runtime – this can then be analyzed in detail using the simulation mode. As part of Chameleon Technology, COPA-DATA also provides special color palettes for the simulation mode. Thus, each operator can see at a glance in which mode – live or simulation – any given display is currently running. Editors Notes: Powertec Magazine Issue 1Thursday, July 1st, 2010Dear Readers, Welcome to the inaugural issue of PowerTec Russia. Having worked in the Oil & Gas sector producing 20 issues of ROGTEC Magazine, Russia´s leading O&G magazine, we have now moved in to the exciting Power Generation sector. Russia’s Power sector is at a key stage. Following recent market deregulation, infrastructure modernization is essential to create a more energy efficient market. Any shortage of electricity could hinder Russia’s accelerated economic growth and with Russia’s electricity consumption back to pre-crisis levels, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has warned the grid companies to be prepared to meet the country’s rising electricity demand and avoid “bottlenecks” in economic growth. He also pointed out that from now on access to the market would be available only to the energy companies that were meeting their commitments regarding the construction of new generating units, investing in the construction of new facilities, and in updating and ensuring security. On the nuclear front, the national government has allocated 53 billion roubles (over 1.7 billion dollars) for building of new plants. This sector is likely to see prolonged growth; the joint venture between Siemens AG and Rosatom will focus on the construction of new nuclear power plants as well as modernization and upgrades of existing plants. It may also take up business opportunities along the entire nuclear conversion chain from fuel fabrication to decommissioning of nuclear power plants. Looking forward to the power generation industry events calendar, this issue will be launched at Russia Power in Moscow on March 24th, and will also be circulated at PowerGen Europe in Amsterdam in June. We look forward to meeting you all there; as we have learned with ROGTEC Magazine it is important to listen to customers and readers alike to ensure we produce the best technology focused publication for this important market. Thank you; |
